Testing capacitors removed from vintage valve equipment – not straightforward!

Using a component tester, multimeter, megaohm meter and oscilloscope to investigate the condition of an old electrolytic capacitor.

Many of the components in valve equipment are required to work at higher voltages than would be found in solid state electronics, often more than 200volts.
