South Korea's opposition parties will today propose two candidates to President Park Geun-hye... to head up an independent counsel,... which will investigate the on-going political scandal surrounding the president and her close friend, Choi Soon-sil.
Once the main and minor opposition parties come up with two candidates, the president has up to three days to select one of them.
The National Assembly is also gearing up to kick start its special committee probe into the scandal.
The first hearing starts on Wednesday... and lawmakers are set to call in witnesses, including senior executives from major businesses like Samsung Electronics... and the mother-in-law of former senior secretary for civil affairs, Woo Byung-woo.
