Explore and hike Eagle Lake, Upper Eagle Falls, Eagle Creek in beautiful wintertime. Eagle Lake is a short 2.4 mile out and back trail in the Lake Tahoe Basin and Desolation Wilderness. The trail is usually hard packed in the winter, so it makes for some great winter hiking.

This is the 3rd separate time I've hiked this trail and every time, I'm amazed at how different the conditions can be. On this particular day, the snow banks were higher than I had ever seen, making for some difficult climbing, but also rewarding with huge ice walls and formations over Eagle Creek and the falls. It made for some beautiful footage and a day to reminisce.

Bring microspikes or snowshoes if hiking here in the winter!
