“Ignoring the red flags because you wanna see the good in people will cost you later.”

We wanted to shine some more light on the IPP situation as you know this platform never forgets the forgotten and we have faith in their ability to change their lives upon release. For Season 7 Episode 5 (Red Flags) we invited Firebarz to share his story as living proof.

Having lost his mother at 9 years old, he already felt like the world was against him at an early age. He was naturally gifted academically but found it hard to focus on school. It wasn’t long before he started getting in trouble with the police.

His first proper sentence was 4 years for possession of a firearm, which he did 3 years out of. There is where he started rapping and when he was freed, he pursued a music career, working with many top artists such as K Koke and Mike GLC to name a few. He started a DVD called ‘WHO’S THE HARDIZ’ featuring all the top artists at the time.

His progress was abruptly ended with him receiving a 5 year IPP sentence for a GBH Section 18 with intent. Working his ticket, he ended up serving 6 years out of that IPP. 5 months later he was back in prison on a conspiracy charge for which he then got 16 years with first parole after 11 years. Total madness.

Out for over a year now, he has managed to find his feet and is building his platform ‪@whosthehardiz‬ aswell as taking care of his family and staying on the straight and narrow. Inspiring for the bad youth. Change is possible and necessary.

After hearing his story, we put him through his ‘RTM Fire Round’ before getting into some ‘Current Affairs’. After some ‘RTM Banter’ we tackled the main subject which was ‘Red Flags’. The ‘RTM Dilemma’ and ‘Book Suggestion’ closed the show as usual.
