Penn State freshman hockey player Gavin McKenna, considered a top prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft, has been charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct following an alleged altercation in downtown State College on Jan. 31. Police say McKenna allegedly struck another man in the face, resulting in serious injuries. He was released on unsecured bail, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11. If convicted of the felony count alone, McKenna could face up to 20 years in prison under Pennsylvania law.
