How to Find Truss Forces Using the Method of Joints – Statics Trusses Method of Joints Problem 3

Описание к видео How to Find Truss Forces Using the Method of Joints – Statics Trusses Method of Joints Problem 3

In this video, we solve the truss by finding all the member forces using the method of joints. We also determine if the members are in compression or tension. This problem is solved using static equilibrium of rigid bodies along with the method of joints for trusses, and the property that all forces, internal and external, must cancel and counteract each other so all forces sum to be zero, including reactions at supports.

Problem statement:
Using the method of joints, determine the force in each member of the truss shown.

Problem walkthrough steps:
Solve for the reactions of the truss (if not already given)
Use the method of joints by isolating a single joint
Sum forces at the joint such that equilibrium is kept
Determine if members attached to the joint are in tension or compression
Repeat process for the other joints in the truss
Check the last joint to make sure equilibrium is kept.
