If you're offering a qualified small employer HRA, or QSEHRA, to your employees for the first time, they qualify for a special enrollment period. An SEP gives eligible individuals a limited amount of time to enroll in or change their health insurance plans outside of the annual enrollment period.

So if your employees don't have health insurance already, this is their time to get it. Offering your employees a QSEHRA will trigger an SEP on the day they’re eligible for the benefit.

If you give your employees advance notice of the QSEHRA, which is generally 90 days before the benefit’s start date, they’ll have 60 days before the start date of the QSEHRA to enroll in coverage.
