Kengo Kuma: Kadokawa Culture Museum (One Minute Architecture)

Описание к видео Kengo Kuma: Kadokawa Culture Museum (One Minute Architecture)

This is a pre-opening visit to Kadokawa Culture Museum by Kengo Kuma.

For the Kadokawa Museum’s main building Kuma’s approach is to use stone, which in this particular building he has used “different from any other stone architecture in the world”. The statement is rather ridiculous and let’s assume that it has been lost in translation.

I personally think the strongest part of the architecture is that it allows for people to use the shallow pool in front of it to cool down during the summer. (Maybe in the winter if cold enough it could be used for skating?) You can see in the video how people, young and old, are enjoying themselves there. The facade, made of 20,000 stones clad to the main concrete structure which creates an impressive, three-dimensional object that is different from any angle.
