Last year I purchased an installed a budget tailgate pad from Demon United to haul my mountain bike. This pad worked out great and got the job done.
However, I recently purchased a new Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck and realised my old pad wasn't the perfect fit for this truck. It obstructed both my tailgate handle and rear camera. So I began searching for a new pad and I decided to spend a bit more money for a premium pad this time around.
I researched tailgate MTB pads like the race face T2 and similar offerings from Fox and Evoke, but ultimately I decided to Purchase the Yakima Gatekeeper because It has the latest tailgate coverage and the largest flap to allow access to my tailgate handle and rear camera.
In this video, I'll show you a quick unboxing and installation, then I'll take it out for a ride and see how it performs while hauling my Polygon T8 special edition.
