Why is Tungnath famous?
Tungnath is one of the highest Shiva temples in the world and is the highest of the five Panch Kedar temples located in the Rudraprayag district, in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. The Tungnath (literal meaning: Lord of the peaks) mountains form the Mandakini and Alaknanda river valleys.

What is the best time to visit Tungnath?
April to August

The weather is pleasant in Tungnath and the average temperature hovers around 16 degrees Celsius. This weather is ideal for sightseeing and also visiting the temple and other places in and around Tungnath.

Where is Chandrashila situated?
Chandrashila is a steep 1.5 kms trek from Tungnath temple which is a 3.5 kms trek from Chopta hill station. Chandrashila and Tungnath are covered with snow during the winters and also popular as winter treks. Tip: You can only reach Chandrashila Top by trekking only.
