When I filmed this departure from #Heathrow on 3rd June 2020, none of us knew that BA were intending to announce one month later in July, the complete and immediate retirement of the complete British Airways 747-400 fleet.

G- BYGG had been in storage at Heathrow since it last flew on 2nd April 202 but on the day I filmed it (Wednesday 3rd June 2020) it flew empty from Heathrow, to Cardiff Wales - a short 30 minute flight; believed at that time to be for further maintenance / storage.

What also makes this quite a unique moment in time is the Runway 09 Left departure - as well as the stillness and the birdsong that you can hear in those days so soon after complete lockdown.

Enjoy the sound of the RB211s powering the Queen of the Skies along the runway towards us- that once familiar sound that is already so sadly missed....
