The 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was observed across the country as Parakram Diwas, celebrating the life and legacy of one of India’s greatest freedom fighters. The main state-level event in Odisha was held at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Birthplace Museum in Cuttack, where Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan paid heartfelt tributes to Netaji.

Addressing the gathering, the Vice President described Netaji as a great son of Bharat, whose contribution extended far beyond the freedom struggle. He said Netaji not only fought fearlessly for India’s independence but also presented a strong vision for post-independence governance, focused on building a self-reliant, strong and poverty-free India.

Referring to the iconic INA marching song Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja, he highlighted Netaji’s ideals of courage, unity and supreme sacrifice, which continue to inspire generations. He urged citizens to draw inspiration from Netaji’s spirit of parakram while working collectively towards the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

During the event, a recorded address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also telecast. The Vice President noted that the Prime Minister had honoured Netaji’s legacy by declaring his birth anniversary as Parakram Diwas and renaming Ross Island as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.
