Описание к видео How To Resolve WordPress Downloads File Instead Of Going To The Page

If you click on your wordpress site link and it downloads a file instead of processing / opening / going to the page here what you should do to resolve it:

This just happened to me and the issue could be because of a plugin or because you changed php versions and wordpress doesn't know how to "handle" the pages.

The fix is pretty easy, heres what to do:
First log into your cpanel

Then open the file manager

In the root of your domain you'll see 2 files
php.ini
and
.htaccess

(if you don't see them, click on settings and enable "show hidden files")

Delete both of them.

Then, go into your publichtml folder
and delete the .htaccess file there too
(make sure to back it up first by downloading it, or you could just rename it to .OLD or something...)

Then go back to your wordpress site and under settings -- permalinks click SAVE

This should regenerate the .htaccess file for you

Next: clear your cookies from your browser (or better, use a different browser)

and try the links on your site again, they should work now.

If still doesnt work, you'll need to open the .htaccess file in the publichtml folder and add ONE of the following lines at the top depending on your PHP version:

for PHP 7.3 add this line to the top of the .htaccess:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php73 .php .php5 .php4 .php3

PHP 7.2 add this line to the top of the .htaccess:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php72 .php .php5 .php4 .php3

PHP 7.1 add this line to the top of the .htaccess:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php71 .php .php5 .php4 .php3

PHP 7.0 add this line to the top of the .htaccess:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php70 .php .php5 .php4 .php3

PHP 5.6 add this line to the top of the .htaccess:
AddHandler application/x-httpd-php56 .php .php5 .php4 .php3

To find out which php version you have, go to multiphp in your cpanel and you'll see it (as I show in the video)
