Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow does not harbour any illusions about the ease of resolving the conflict in Ukraine, speaking in Moscow on Wednesday. "We have never had any illusions about a potential possibility of the effortless settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.

It has long been clear to all non-involved parties, it can be resolved only through agreements that ensure lasting security and stability in Europe and take into account Russia's interest as well as the legitimate concerns of all other states," Lavrov said. He went on to note that there was little reason to expect that the arrival of Donald Trump's administration in the United States would necessarily trigger a process of negotiations between Moscow and Kiev.
