Description:

HIKIKOMORI is the term that describes a condition characterized by withdrawal from social life.
This phenomenon, present worldwide and originating in Japan in the early 1990s, is increasing significantly. It is not limited to a specific demographic group but is particularly diffused among adolescents, influenced by social pressure that demands ever-higher performance.
It is estimated that 3% of adolescents worldwide withdraw from society, remaining confined at home for long periods, consumed by darkness and living alongside the screen of the internet. Scared of physical contact and verbal confrontation, they end up abandoning school and facing physical and psychological consequences related to their isolation.
The parents of these adolescents face daily challenges characterized by feelings of powerlessness, frustration, and guilt.
