In this blender cloth simulation tutorial I show how to create a kind of curtain object with a pinned vertex group. To pin an mesh you have to select a part of the mesh, create a vertex group from it and then add this to the Pin Group property of the Cloth Physics.

The other objects have a collision added on the physics panel so that the cloth object is colliding with them. To play the blender cloth animation just press the space bar.
