The transformation of Davao City in the Southern Philippines from a rebellious gangland area to what is now perceived as one of the safest and most business-friendly cities in the country is largely credited to its former mayor, Rodrigo Duterte. Chinese aid and investments have also proved helpful to improving the Philippines' infrastructure and economy, and Duterte’s home town of Davao may be the first beneficiary, as CGTN’s Barnaby Lo reports.
