The cinema of Michael Haneke, the Oscar-winning director of films including Amour, The White Ribbon, The Piano Teacher and Hidden, is being celebrated on the BFI's streaming platform, BFI Player, this month.

To make the occasion we dug into the BFI archive and found a Q&A with the director, filmed in 2009 as part of a BFI Michael Haneke retrospective, which was timed to coincide with the UK release of The White Ribbon. Here BFI Southbank programmer Geoff Andrew presents clips from that interview.
