Lead Programmer Jens Berglind talk about the decision to release Book of Travels as an Early Access game.

When making an online RPG, player feedback and input is of utmost value. Might and Delight is an indie game developer with limited resources and a project with the scope of Book of Travels needs as much of that feedback as possible to be realized properly. Launching the game in Early Access on Steam is the best way to both give the development team what they need and have the players be involved in a meaningful way.

Choosing to go early access with Book of Travels, because we want the players input
in every step of the way, we want to see how they socialize, see how they interpret the game world and use that as we continue to develop it.

The start of early access we will have, the western part of the map open.
We've also thought about that, we want to have the full ecosystem of the different areas.

So you will have small towns, a big town, some untouched wilderness,
some dangerous areas to sort of incorporate the full book of travel experience.

Chapters are real-time time periods.
So, for example; Chapter zero will be from the start of early access, to the full release of Book of Travels.

In the game, there is sort of narrative periods. So there will be an overarching story in each chapter that you can interact with and unravel.

The chapter structure will impact the game-play with that, it contains different content that you can only experience during a certain piece of time.

There is also items and other sorts of things that you can unlock if you
interact with these events and these items will be account-bound.
So if you have unlocked them, you'll find traces of the old chapters in the world where NPCs will tell you about what had happened.

And we also plan on releasing visual novels at end of chapters to sort of summarizing what the main storyline was about.
