You just need to make a nice sound. That's we want to hear (and of course, good intonation, smooth slurs, a stable low range, dynamics...but mostly just a good sound)

You'll be tempted to start too soft, and even though there are a lot of soft dynamics, make sure you're putting your best sound out first and adjusting from there. You can take a risk to play REALLY soft at that pianissimo section.

Also, I know there's an errata that says it should be an F# towards the end. I just do not that think that is correct. It doesn't sound right to me and I have found no evidence that a sharp is missing. Do whatever your band director says, but I think F natural is correct.
