The text of Linda Kachelmeier’s "Each of Us" is an excerpt from Walt Whitman’s poem Salut au Monde! (Hello World!). "It reminds us that “Each of us [is] here as divinely as any” – the world is big enough for all of us, so long as we can work together. It speaks to our shared humanity and rights, the responsibility we have to the earth and its blessings, and our limitless human possibility. The setting includes a mixture of spoken text and flowing, melodic lines.
