Ayen Laurel sings Pilipinas Kong Mahal from Floy Quintos' ATANG

ATANG was first produced for Dulaang UP's 33rd season, in 2008. Written by Floy Quintos , Directed by Alexander Cortez with Musical Direction by Von de Guzman.

It was one show that brought together young audiences who wanted to learn about the legendary superstar of the Zarzuela , Film and Bodabil, as well as more mature audiences who came to relish the nostalgia.

Billed as " Dulang May Musika"/ A Play with Music, the show featured the kundiman hits that Atang Dela Rama popularized.

Stellar performances from Shamaine Centenera - Buencamino and Frances Makil - Ignacio as Atang, as well as a career-defining performance from Ayen Munji - Laurel, made "ATANG" an audience favorite . The show was revived with the same leading cast in 2009.

Here's an excerpt from the show featuring the song "Pilipinas Kong Mahal", with Teroy Guzman as Amado V. Hernandez and Frances as Atang. This number is very apt for our times and for the trials we are all undergoing. Like Atang Dela Rama, who lived through tough times, may we all survive and sing once again.
