Painting the Majolica Coasters in Ceramics I- Using Amaco TP Glazes

Описание к видео Painting the Majolica Coasters in Ceramics I- Using Amaco TP Glazes

This video is preparing my Ceramics I kids to paint the majolica glaze on their dipped coasters which we did at the beginning of the semester as a skillbuilder. As I needed to get this video up for the kids before the piece came out of the kiln, I am linking the finished fired photo of it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14jYe...

I am using Amaco TP (Teacher’s Palette) glazes on top of the TC (Teacher’s Choice) TC-11 white base glaze which we previously dipped and allowed to dry. The TP glazes can be mixed and blended, and thinned with water to achieve a watercolor effect, as well as applied straight from the jar to achieve maximum opaque coverage. These TP glazes can also be used straight on the bisque clay without the use of a white base glaze for regular lowfire application and coverage. In my studio, I always bisque fire the student work prior to glazing.

You can find more videos about the slab construction of the coasters in the following video:

Dip glazing the white base glaze is shown in this video:    • Dipping our Coasters in the Majolica ...

In my classroom, we are using Standard 103 Red Earthenware without grog for these coasters. I bisque fired to cone 04. We are dip glazing the coasters in Amaco TC-11- as the white base glaze, and will be doing the majolica design on the white glaze with the TP glaze series.

I am a public high school ceramics teacher at William Mason High School in Mason, Ohio. (Mason is currently the largest high school in Ohio!) As a potter, I have been working in clay for over 30 years, and I have been teaching for over 28 years, the past 20 have been specifically teaching high school ceramics. I love what I do! I have my own studio in my home basement, where I work on my personal pottery for my Etsy site; https://www.etsy.com/shop/KaransPotsA...

I started my Youtube channel a few years ago, to make videos to help my students if they are absent and miss a demo, or if they would like to explore more advanced techniques independently. I have been amazed to reach such a wider audience than my own students!

Please subscribe to my channel if you would like to receive channel updates, or would like to learn more about clay and studio processes!
