Session Summary:
This session will focus on the emerging NFT ecosystem on Ethereum and explore a few business models attempted by teams like CryptoKitties, Decentraland, and Etheremon. We’ll discuss how the “unbundling” of a previously vertically-integrated business model in gaming creates both challenges and opportunities. We’ll discuss existing models in gaming (like free to play) and how they create challenges in a more open trading ecosystem.

Key Discussion Questions:
Will traditional business models for games (selling game items, fees on secondary sales) translate to a decentralized world?
How can games create defensibility and network effects?
What should the role of open marketplaces be? What business models can sustain open marketplaces? On what axes will marketplaces compete?
Will NFT liquidity be shared across marketplaces and games?
Will free to play be a viable model for the space?
What tradeoffs do games currently face when deciding whether to leverage blockchain?
