Mazedar Aalu Chawal Recipe

Ingredients:

500 grams potatoes (cut into cubes)

500 grams rice (washed and soaked for 30 minutes)

1 medium onion (finely chopped)

2 tomatoes (chopped)

1/2 church chili

2-3 green chilies (chopped)

1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

1 teaspoon turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder

Salt to taste

1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

Half cup oil

3/2 glasses water

1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder

Fresh coriander and green chilies for garnish


Instructions:

1. Heat oil in a pot and fry the chopped onions until golden brown.


2. Add chopped tomatoes, green chilies, red chili powder, cumin seeds, black pepper powder, salt, and turmeric powder. Sauté well until the tomatoes soften.


3. Add ginger-garlic paste and fry the mixture until the raw smell disappears.


4. Now, add the potatoes and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.


5. Pour in 2 glasses of water and let it come to a boil.


6. Once the water starts boiling, add the soaked rice. Mix well.


7. Sprinkle garam masala powder on top and cover the pot. Cook on low heat for 3 minutes.


8. Garnish with fresh coriander and green chilies.


9. Let it simmer for another 3 minutes on "dum." Your delicious Aalu Chawal is ready to serve!



Pro tip: Serve it with yogurt or pickles for an extra zing!
