The Desert Research Institute, in partnership with the Climate Science Alliance, the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals and CNNCTS, is hosting a virtual panel series titled "Extreme Heat Adaptation in Indigenous Communities". Overall, this series will examine the effects of extreme heat on Indigenous communities and explore innovative adaptation strategies at the household, community, and regional/policy levels. Each session will host a panel of Indigenous leaders, researchers, and climate experts as they share solutions and insight on extreme heat impacts and adaptation strategies.

This first part of the series focuses on household-level solutions and what individuals can do to mitigate extreme heat impacts within their household and/or at an individual level. We had three panelist share their expertise and experiences in this space:
