In a press conference, senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma strongly criticized the state government, stating that crimes against women have increased since the formation of the new government.

He said, “Female students are feeling unsafe, campuses are insecure, and there is a general atmosphere of unrest at all levels.”

Referring to recent incidents in Balasore and Balanga (Puri), he also raised concern over a shocking incident of rape near Maa Bali Harachandi temple in Brahmagiri (Puri district).
He added that the Brahmagiri case has shaken the entire state, and the victim is currently in critical condition undergoing treatment at a medical facility.

Das Burma stated, “Bali Harachandi in Puri is no longer safe. For a long time, there has been a demand for setting up a police outpost in the area.”

He further urged the Chief Minister to ensure all tourist destinations across the state are made safe and secure, emphasizing that the issue goes beyond just Puri district.
