Matt James is revealing all of the TEA cut from his season of the bachelor in his new book FIRST IMPRESSIONS

As always, I’m your host Zachary Reality and I am so excited to read Matt James' new memoir First Impressions when it hits bookstores May 3rd! It’s been a year since his controversial season of the bachelor ended and there are so many unanswered questions about his season and how he was able to forgive Rachel that are finally going to be answered.

Matt James has been on a little press tour, talking about all the things you can expect to read in his new book and what was really cut from the show. Matt knows there were a lot of things that didn’t make sense to the viewer. He says:

“I shared all those things so that the women who were pursuing me — as well as the viewers — had context to why I was the way I was. And when they didn’t have that context, there were just a lot of things that didn't add up.”

Yes, he’s going there. He’s talking about what it was like to be the first black bachelor, his brother going to jail, the backlash he got from the show and the reason he didn’t propose to Rachel Kirkconell at the end.

“I’m not nervous about that because that process allowed me to dig into myself and be like, ‘If I’m gonna do this, it’s gotta be done one way’ — and that’s letting it all hang out, be vulnerable and just allow people to be pulled in.

The timeline between Matt and Rachel was very unclear to most bachelor fans. They left the show together as boyfriend and girlfriend, but did break up while the episodes were airing once Rachel’s past of attending a racially insensitive plantation party in college hit the internet. Matt says:

“A lot of people going into the AFR didn’t realize that we had broken up because they’re not on Instagram, Twitter, whatever.

They didn’t talk for weeks before after the final rose which was hosted by Emmanuel Acho. However, Matt notes that they did leave that stage hand in hand. They got back together. And it wasn’t show on the tell all because Matt says “you have to stick to the script” Matt tells UsWeekly:

“I don’t want to come across as petty because I’m not. I’m so thankful for that opportunity and to meet Rachael and [that] amazing group of women, but it’s unfortunate that so many people are left with that sour taste in their mouth after going through something so cool when it doesn’t have to be like that.”
