With the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it can be easy to get distracted. That's why local fire officials want to ensure that everyone has fire safety in mind.

According to the National Fire Protection Association, fire departments across the country respond to an estimated 835 home fires each year, which ultimately begin with decorations.

Historically, several of them were caused by Christmas trees.
