Southsea, which got its name from the 16th century Southsea Castle, became a fashionable destination for seaside leisure activities in the early 19th century. Today, it remains a vibrant, traditional resort town with plenty of visitor attractions. This is the beach with lovely views and clean and safe for families. There are Lifeguards on the beach, based near South Parade Pier. It’s a wonderful Pier and was Uk top pier recently. It’s just not the locals like me how love our beach, many visitor enjoy it when they come to stay or visit.The beach lies less than a mile south of Portsmouth city centre, with its many shops, restaurants and bars.Southsea beach stretches from Old Portsmouth to Eastney.
Southsea beach is always something going on nearby.The beach, which slopes fairly rapidly into the sea, is backed by a promenade and behind that a recreation area with a popular canoe lake. The lake gets its water from the sea and a variety of crabs, fish and other marine wildlife can be found here. Children might enjoy dangling bacon tied with pieces of string into the water to see what creatures take the bait. quiet and secluded rose garden and Natural History Museum. The museum exhibits could do with updating. However, there is a bee hive observation case, new butterfly house and lovely quiet gardens with plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds. There are Plenty of fish and chip places plus lots of arcades and the pier rides as well.Many of the great activities to try out in the seafront. At the coast’s edge you’ll find watersports centres, wakeboarding parks, sailing clubs and plenty more. It’s also an ideal place for walking, cycling and birdwatching.
There are lots of local cafes, takeaway eateries, and ice cream parlours.The entire seafront is interesting to walk along, with landmarks like the more natural looking beach at Eastney, Model Village,Southsea Castle, the bandstand and atmospheric Old Portsmouth.Southsea is a thriving commercial area with a pier, a couple of national department stores and many other retail outlets.There are two piers, the South Parade and the Clarence piers which both provide amusement arcades.The area has miniature golf, tennis courts and volleyball courts as well as a scenic promenade.The Pier is newly refurbished. It is nice to walk along and look at the sea. It can be quite dramatic when stormy! The seafront has plenty of bars and restaurants which cater to all ages and budgets.The pub scene of sea front is as varied as it is vibrant. From recognisable high street names to backstreet boozers, really does have it all. All this means, however, that finding the right watering hole for you might require a little forethought. Thankfully, there is a wealth of choice, such as, The Beach Club, Southsea Beach Cafe etc. Southsea is completely safe, and the authority's main priority is visitor safety. For visitors, Southsea has been converted into a cleaner, safer, and pleasant environment.
If you are looking for things to do this summer, Southsea is the ideal location for a fun family break, with miles of beach to explore, year round events, including the spectacular America’s Cup World Series racing this July and great waterfront activities for all ages.Take a picnic and fly a kite on Southsea Common or visit during Victorious in August, the family friendly festival for music lovers.
