Provisions for Drinking Water
As per
Mines Act 1952 and Mines Rules 1955

Effective arrangements for sufficient supply of drinking water for all person employed in mine at certain suitable points.
All such points must have mark of “Drinking Water” in printed or hand written in region language .
All such points must have at least distance of 6 meter from washing places, urinal or latrine.
A shorter distance will require approved in writing from chief inspector.
Quantity of Water
At least 2 liters per person employed at any one time.
Readily available at accessible places during the whole shift time.
If more than 100 person are employed, inspector may order for providing cooled water
No charge shall be made for the drinking water
Storage Of Drinking Water
If water is not delivered from tap with constant water supply, water shall be kept cool in suitable vessels sheltered from whether
Such vessels shall be emptied, cleaned and refilled very day.
Steps shall be taken to preserve the water, the storage vessels and the vessels used for drinking water in a clean and hygienic conditions.
An inspector may require certificate from a competent health authority regarding fitness of the water for human consumption.
