Can you make sausage rolls in a toastie maker ?
So I’ve come out of a wacky idea for a recipe, but I don’t know if it’s gonna be possible so I’m gonna take you along the journey with me, I was craving a sausage rolls and then it came to me that I wonder if you could cook it in the toastie maker
So I purchased some cheap sausages for that questionable whipped meat texture commonly found in sausage rolls and got them onto some puff pastry egged washed the sides folded pressed the sides down with a fork then egg washed the whole thing
I set my toastie maker to medium then carefully placed my sausage roll into the grill
Now the problem we might have is that the puff pastry might cook quicker than the sausage meat inside so im going to keep and eye on it
After about 10 mins we have these stunning toasties but is the meat inside cooked
I was super surprised on how well the puff pastry cooked in the toastie maker they came out crispy and had risen to give you that iconic flaky texture
Now the sausage meat looks cooked but sometimes it hard to tell with super cheap pork mince so im going to temperature check
And its surpassed 80c which is incredible for such a short cooking time
