Fujfilm X-S20 XS20 10Bit 6K Cinematic
This is the brand new Fujifilm X-S20 6K Video Test. Thank you Fujifilm Australia for letting me test out this camera. And I gotta say this camera is so good. 10Bit 6.2K opengate with F-Log 2 on a much lower end camera. Is that even a low-end camera??

So the 6.2K image is just beautiful, its super sharp and detail. And I love the 6K opengate. It gives you flexibility to re-frame or make it 9:16 vertical video for social media. And nowadays 9:16 radio is very popular. You don’t have to shoot everything twice. Especially for weddings when you can’t really re-take another shot.

The video AF from Fujifilm is getting better and better each time. I didn’t see any focus hunting for the wide lens. It’s pretty reliable. (Wide angle lens usually easier for focus anyway) Battery life is pretty good. I shot the entire 6K review with just one battery. And when I finished I still got 50% battery life.

During my test I did not have any overheating issue. As Australia is winter at the moment. But if you think you are doing a lot of 6K shooting, you can also purchase the little cooling fan from Fujifilm.

One little thing I found is, there isn’t a dial to change between AF-C and AF-S mode on the camera like the X-T5 or X-H2. You have to go into the menu to change that. I don’t think it’s an issue unless you always have to change your AF settings. So the X-S20 does have the F-Log 2 picture profile. Thanks Fujifilm. But the F-log 2 is slightly different to the X-H2. The minimum ISO is 1250 for F-Log 2. Whiere the X-H2 was only ISO 1000. It is not a huge issue. Unless you always shoot at f/1.2 during the day time. Then it makes a different with that extra 250ISO.

Okay, lets talk about the the XF 8mm f/3.5 lens. And all I can say is, that lens is just gorgeous.. I don’t think I have ever used an ultra wide angle lens with such that compact before. It’s 12mm full frame equivalent. And the best thing is, you can still use an ND filter. That’s a huge thing for video shooters. As I hate using a Matt box for run and gun type of shooting.

Overall I think the X-S20 is such an amazing camera. I don’t see any down side of it. You get 6K opengate, 10Bit, 4K 60p, IBIS. Good AF, big battery, and F-Log 2. And actually I was surprised on the F-Log 2. Fujifilm could’ve givin us just F-log 1 plus a smaller battery. But they didn’t. This camera truly gives you your best bang for the buck. For the price I don’t think there are any competitors on the market at all. Especially 10Bit 6K video.
