At 9 a.m. on the morning of 13 August, a sudden fire broke out in Amarapura in the Mandalay Region of Myanmar. Triggered by a faulty power strip, the blaze spread quickly, completely destroying eight homes. Along with the houses, all household items and sources of livelihood were reduced to ashes.
Fortunately, Tzu Chi volunteers arrived at the scene immediately after the fire to assess the situation and identify the urgent needs of the affected families. The following morning, they purchased and packed food, daily necessities and school supplies. They also thoughtfully provided Jing Si folding beds and emergency financial aid, giving the victims a safe place to stay and peace of mind while ensuring that children could return to school without worry.
The fire was ruthless. But love and care from people are gradually rekindling hope for the survivors.
