Here are a few topics to discuss with employees to inform them of the pest control efforts and help them understand their role.

1. Preventative Action
Technicians provide expertise on inspection, exclusion and pest biology, but there are practices that employees can implement to reduce the risk of pests.
Inspect deliveries for pests or pest evidence.
Use a first in/first out (FIFO) rotation system.
Do not prop open doors and windows.
Eat in designated areas only.
Remove unnecessary clutter.

2. Sanitation/Cleaning
Sanitation is a critical component of pest prevention. Create a regular cleaning schedule that employees are aware of, and schedule additional deep cleaning. To help reduce pest attraction, employees should:
Sweep up any crumbs.
Wipe up any spills immediately.
Put away any wet or dirty mops.
Clean drains thoroughly.

3. Reporting
Encourage employees to report any issues, pest sightings or pest evidence to management so it can be relayed to the technician. Pest evidence can include droppings, damaged product, nesting materials and rub marks.
