භරත නාට්‍යම් කලාව පරතෙරට ඉගෙන ගත්ත, එම විෂයෙහි ලාංකීය සලකුණක් බඳු මේ අම්මා, කලා ශූරී, කලා භූෂණ, නර්තන මාතා පද්මිණී දහනායක ආරියදාස මහත්මිය.
එතුමිය අද අපි අතර නැතත් , ඇය ප්‍රගුණ කල ශිල්පය අලුත් පරම්පරාවට රැගෙන යන දියණිය, නර්ථනාචාරිනී රංගනා ආරියදාස මහත්මිය.

“Like a mother, like a daughter”. Just like this idiom says a daughter naturally takes after her mother. So it is about a daughter who truly followed her mother’s footsteps, that we are going to talk about today.
This mother is Kalasuri and Kala Bhushana Mrs. Padmini Dahanayake Ariyadasa, who is the first Sri Lankan woman, a mother of dancing who brought great fame to Sri Lanka as a renowned dancer of Bharatha Natyam. In fact she is an icon of Bharatha Natyam in Sri Lanka.
Even though she is no longer among us, her daughter, a fine arts instructress and Bharatha Natyam artiste Mrs. Rangana Ariyadasa continues her mother’s legacy by imparting her knowledge and skills to the young generations.
This beautiful mother and daughter who are equally smart and eloquent have excelled in classical Bhratha Natyam having mastered it in “Kalakshetra” Institute of fine arts in Chennai, India.
