Unmoored From Her Reflection - Cecily Brown at The Courtauld Gallery

Acclaimed artist Cecily Brown discusses her painting Unmoored from her Reflection, 2021, created especially for the reopening of The Courtauld.

She takes us through her inspirations, the painting's complex layered details, and the subtle references to The Courtauld's famous Impressionist collection found throughout the painting.

Born in London in 1969, Cecily Brown is a world-renowned artist whose works, rich in colour and movement, slip between figuration and abstraction.

Unmoored from her Reflection was created in the artist's New York studio using three large-scale curved canvasses specifically designed to fit into position at the top of the 18th-century staircase at The Courtauld Gallery.
