How do I know what lighting company I should buy from?

There are a lot of companies popping up because LEDs are so big right now. It's a good time to go LED. Companies are popping up and trying to offer LEDs and some of them do really well and they grow and some don't. You might see a company that's been in business for two years and they're offering a five year warranty on their product and that should raise a little bit of a red flag at least as far as a discussing point with that company. Say, "Hey, I see you're warranting this for five years, you've been open for two. Can you tell me how you can warranty something for five years?"

They might have some good rationale behind that or testing they can show you, but if that company goes out of business, it's up to you to find the manufacturer and track down that product where most likely you're not going to be able to get a refund warranty on that project. That's why established manufacturers, established distributors, established companies that you know if something goes wrong, they will have my back, they will protect me. That's why even sometimes you'll find yourself paying more for a brand name product because you know I'm going to be free from problems down the road if something happens, as opposed to spending hours hunting down who makes it, who can help me. That's why it's so important to establish yourself with reputable manufacturers and companies.
