This presentation explores key challenges and advanced solutions in composite and nanocomposite manufacturing, with a focus on critical processes such as degassing and dispersion. Effective production of these materials is essential for applications in aerospace, automotive, construction, electronics, and many other industries, where high performance and reliability are paramount. Addressing manufacturing challenges—such as the removal of dissolved gases and entrained bubbles, and achieving uniform dispersion of nanoparticles—is crucial to optimizing mechanical strength, durability, and functional properties.

After providing an overview of traditional processing methods and discussing their limitations in terms of efficiency, scalability, and defect prevention, Dr. Peshkovsky demonstrates how Industrial Sonomechanics' patented Barbell Horn® Ultrasonic Technology (BHUT) and recently-introduced Continuous Ultrasonic Homogenizer and Bubble Eliminator (CUHBE) can be used to remove dissolved oxygen and entrained air bubbles from composite matrices, as well as to ensure homogeneous dispersion of reinforcement nanoparticle additives.

Supported by recent research findings and industry applications, this presentation provides attendees with a comprehensive understanding of how ultrasonic technology can enhance composite and nanocomposite manufacturing processes. The session concludes with a discussion on scalability considerations and practical implementation strategies for integrating ultrasonic systems into existing production workflows.
