Easily add fun and addictive AAA quality grinding gameplay to your game with the Epic Grinding System. This is a complete rail grinding and traversal system for Unreal Engine 5, built for movement-focused and skate-inspired games. This asset will become available on FAB within the next 48 hours.

Inspired by Sunset Overdrive, Jet Set Radio, and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, this system delivers smooth, physical, and highly responsive grinding gameplay. The system is component based and easy to implement into an existing project.

Key Features Include:

Multiple Grinding Styles
Constant Grinding moves the character along the rail at a fixed speed for arcade-style gameplay.
Dynamic Grinding simulates realistic momentum by factoring in velocity, gravity, and rail angle.
Use either mode or mix both to match the feel of your game.

Predictive Leaning
An advanced feature that sets this system apart. Predictive leaning detects upcoming bends in the rail and smoothly leans the character into turns to counter momentum. The result is grinding that feels natural, authentic, and physically grounded.

Kink Handling
The system smoothly interpolates the character between current and future rail positions, allowing for seamless grinding across complex rail shapes.

Procedural Arm Animation
To enhance immersion, the system includes velocity-driven procedural arm animation. Faster grinds result in more stable arm movement and slower grinds increase balancing motion

Multi-Stance Support
Easily make your character Regular footed or Goofy footed by adjusting a single variable.

Custom Animations
Includes custom-made animations and blendspaces, ready to be retargeted to your character.

Quick-Turn Ability
Pressing Down + Jump performs a Quick-Turn, allowing the player to reverse direction mid-grind. Optional animations can be played during the turn for added style and clarity.

Wall Hit Responses
Choose how the system reacts when grinding into a wall with one of the three options:
Kick Off Rail
Stop Immediately
Force Quick-Turn

Dynamic Camera Lean
The camera can lean in sync with the character, enhancing immersion and reinforcing momentum during grinds.

Dynamic Grinding Audio
Grinding audio responds to player velocity, with randomized loop start points to prevent repetition and keep sound design feeling natural.

Dynamic Grind Sparks
Includes a Niagara spark system that adjust position based on rail angle and scales in intensity with the speed of the grind.

Advanced Procedural Rail Blueprint
A spline-based rail system that allows you to procedurally generate rail meshes, add rail legs and structural elements.

Grinding Friction Presets
Control how each rail feels using surface friction presets to adjust speed and deceleration.

Session Marker System
Players can place down session markers and quickly reset from a specific location with a button press. Perfect for skill-based gameplay loops.

Component Based
The entire system is component-based for easy integration. Simply plug inputs into the component, retarget the animations and add two sockets to the skeleton for the grind sparks.

Controller Support
System supports controllers and has PC and Xbox Controls preconfigured.
