Описание к видео Benoni Darondeau (1741-1810) & André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry (1741-1813)

World Première Recording
1) Darondeau - Chaconne in D-Major: 00:00
2) Grétry - Air de Ballet: 3:30
Benoni Darondeau was a composer and singing teacher who was born in Munich, but who eventually moved to France. His father, François Darondeau (1697-1770), had moved from his native Strasbourg to Munich, where he worked as an upholsterer. Thus, a number of his children were born in that city. Later, the family moved back to Strasbourg. Many years later, Benoni’s son Henry was born; the boy would grow up to be a composer like his father, as well as a music teacher and theater musician. In 1782, Benoni and his family moved to Paris, where he lived till his death in 1810. The “chaconne” you will hear in this recording was published in the 1782 edition of the “Journal de Clavecin”, a harpsichord periodical that featured works recently composed for that instrument.
The second piece, whose full title is “Air de Ballet de Colinette à la Cour” is a harpsichord arrangement by Charles-Antoine Vion II (a Parisian harpsichordist and pianist on the latter half of the 18th century) of a piece from an opera which debuted in 1782; its composer was André-Ernest-Modeste Grétry (1741-1813). Grétry was quite famous in his time, principally as a composer of opéras comiques. This “Air de Ballet” piece was also printed in the 1782 edition of the “Journal de Clavecin”.
