Birthday is the most enjoyable day for everyone, but this fact is not true in all cases. It all began with a birthday. On 23rd June, 2018, Peerapat Sompiangjai turned 17, for which his family planned a great surprise party with gifts and cake at home. But he had some other plans to celebrate this birthday in style. For execution of his ‘ADVENTUROUS’ plan, he along with his 11 friends and football coach Ekkapol Chantawong collectively called wild boars decided to visit Tham Luang cave, a haunting cave in their area for some dark experiences.

They kept just a couple of torches and went inside the cave, after all they used to visit the cave very often and they planned to stay there for an hour only, but to their bad luck, rainfall started soon after they entered the cave, drastically changing everything. The cave was dark but silent, until once monsoon season starts in July, the cave goes from innocuous to extremely dangerous, and once the cave floods, it's impossible for even the experienced divers to dive there.

Hours passed and the birthday cake at home remained untouched, as none of the 12 boys returned home. They soon realised after a couple of days that there could only be one location where all those boys could go, and to solve their doubt, they soon visited Tham Luang and found bicycles of them at the gate, realising that boys have been trapped inside it.

3 days passed and the wild boars were in such a situation that they were going deep inside the cave in order to escape the water continuously filling inside it, and surprisingly they went 4 kilometres deeper inside the cave.

Without even a single nibble of food, the boys were starving, but luckily their coach was a man of culture, who motivated them to live. He taught them meditation techniques to help them stay calm and use as little air as possible, and told them to lie still to conserve their strength.

They had everything against us, except a few favourable circumstances. They apparently had no food, but they did have a supply of drinkable water in the form of moisture dripping from the cave walls. It was dark, but they had their torches. There was also enough air for a while, which meant They had the right conditions to survive, at least for a little while.

They had their colleagues, but the hope for rescue was still missing in them.

On the outside, Authorities called in the elite Thai Navy Seals, the national police, and other rescue teams for the operation. The biggest question for the team was whether children were currently alive? And if yes, then where were they?

Exploring the cave was a challenge as most of the Navy divers had little cave diving experience. And the weather was merciless, heavy rainfall meant the water level was still rising, flooding chambers and cutting off rescuers from parts of the cave. Engineers desperately tried to pump water out of the cave but struggled to do so.

Villagers rallied together, donating money and hundreds of packages of food to the relatives of the boys and their coach who were waiting outside the cave to welcome their beloved ones. The word spreaded at a speed even beyond anyone’s imagination, as international organisations soon entered in the rescue operation.

The international rescuers started arriving on 28 june. These included US air force rescue specialists, and cave divers from the UK, Belgium, Australia, Scandinavia, and many other countries.

Everyone was excited after this, but excitement started to fade after 3 days. It was the 2nd of July, and people were having usual sorrow expressions on their faces,
