Crystal Grottoes Caverns: The World's Most Naturally Kept Cave - Boonsboro, Maryland

Описание к видео Crystal Grottoes Caverns: The World's Most Naturally Kept Cave - Boonsboro, Maryland

The Crystal Grottoes Caverns is the only show cave in Maryland located in Boonsboro between Hagerstown & Frederick near Interstate 70 & US Alt. Route 40. The cave "was discovered in 1920 in the course of quarrying operations by a road construction crew trying to obtain gravel. A drill bit (for placing explosives) disappeared into a hole, and the crew realized they had found a cave. Blasting produced the entrance which is still used, and in 1922 the cave was opened to the public. A mapping operation in 1968 revealed about a half mile of passages, but only about one third of the cave is accessed during the tour, which takes about 30–35 minutes" (Wikipedia).

I originally planned to record a video tour of this attraction to record the history or quirks about the formations. However the site forbade video taping (and still today) in order to keep business running. However, taking nothing but pictures and leaving nothing but footprints.

Thus, this photo slideshow was created. Great cave tour nonetheless and recommend to visit yourself!
