So... how to market your law firm.
You've probably used traditional means like Televisions, (Space) Radio, or (Space) bill boards.
But no one drives by a billboard and says, "I should get a lawyer today". Or they get their identity stolen and say, "What was that lawyers name on that TV commercial I saw last week".
No, when they get hurt, sued, or are in trouble a need arises. The next action is to create a search process. Phone books were great for this but its 2012 and the phonebook has been replaced with Google and Bing. LexisNexis in May released a study that 76 percent of people search for lawyers ONLINE so if you don't have an online presence you're missing out on 76 percent of the market.
You're probably asking: well how do I get them?
First you need a website to drive traffic In 10 seconds or less you need to say what you do, what makes you different from the other law firms, and what's your phone number. This website also needs to be creative and separate you from your competitors design wise so you can increase your conversions.
Second you need to use search engine marketing. If you have the greatest website but no one sees it you will still lose out on the 76 percent. There is a wealth of information out there but make sure it's up to date and reputable. SEOmoz has some good guides.
Third you want to network online to gain business. So make sure you're on twitter. I would use Facebook for just SEO purposes if you have the time. Make sure you're providing great content and you never know when business will pop up on social media.
Fourth you need a mobile website. Mobile device usage is on the rise and it's good to get on the bandwagon now. There are many responsive websites that will adjust for tablets and mobile devices. But if your website isn't responsive you can get a mobile website for $12 a month.
Sixth use content marketing. Use your blog to blog once a week or more to increase your search rankings. These posts will be posted over the internet which will capture more market share. Steve just got laid off unfairly by a large corporation and searches online "What to do if laid off unfairly by large company". And if you have an article that says, "What to do if you get laid off by a big corporation"., you will be the first connection to Steve.
That's it, it's a big learning curve but all can be done by yourself.
