Tizgut Ridge - 2500m - Grade III

Came up here a few trips back to scope out this Aonach Eagach length ridge-line so was great getting back here today to do the full traverse. Tom Lawfield led the way on all the difficulties as he's back working here next week

The first half was amazing, some consistent, really nice mostly grade 2 scrambling which becomes quite exposed pretty quickly. Continued interest throughout. The rope certainly provided some comfort in a few airy places moving together but at half way we put it away and continued to the summit over some easier but still entertaining scrambling. Scorching afternoon but there was a bit of breeze, nice to get it ticked.

*Disclaimer – I’ve never been a big fan of fish eye lenses. Whilst I find it really good for capturing a climb, on mountaineering terrain I hate the over exaggerated sense of total oblivion in all directions when in GoPro ‘Superhero’ mode. I’d rather give a truer sense of the climbing and exposure but I forgot to turn it off, soz. Having said that, this route is pretty damn exposed and quite serious in lots of places, almost continuous climbing and very long!

0:00 – Easy scrambling but with ever increasing exposure
10:15 – Time to put the rope on as things get a bit more spicy
29:12 – Rope off and slightly easier scrambling terrain
47:30 – Final sections to summit
54:20 – Summit
