One of the pioneers in science and technology in Nepal Gehendra was the son of Shree 3 Bir Shumsher JBR, the 3rd Rana prime minister. At that time the prime ministers were more powerful than the kings. Gehendra lived a life of a prince. His mother however was under house arrest by his own father.
