Need For Speed Movie Ford Mustang Unlocked - Need for Speed: Rivals #supercars #bestcar #fastestcar #nukeroid #gaming #needforspeed #bestgame #bestgames #bestracinggames
There is not a great number of movies where the car is the main star, one of those is the 2014 DreamWorks Need for speed, a movie inspired from the famous computer video game with the same name.
If you haven’t seen it yet, the plot is a about a struggling speed shop owner (Aaron Paul) who is trying to save his business by engaging in illegal street racing, of course, aboard the Ford Mustang.
The car has its own story, it's about the last Mustang designed by Caroll Shelby, a super car that holds 900 Hp under the hood, and that’s able to reach 234 mph. A car that would set you back $3 million if you want to own it.
The movie director Scott Waugh had this great vision of this amazing car movie, a fantasy that has been growing in his mind since the 60s and 70s when he was a great fan of car movies.
To help him materialize his vision, he enlisted the help of Melvin Betancourt the famous ford designer. They opted to give the standard GT car a more aggressive look. And that was only possible by the efforts of Technosports Creative and Steeda in building the movie cars.
Eight of the movie stars were from ford, and seven of those were 2014 GT Models and one a 2015 fastback prototype. The eight cars had to undergo an extensive body modification work, to make them screen worthy. Steeda then put in heavy-duty suspension systems, installed roll bars, added 22” wheels, bigger tires, and lowered each of the cars.
And then they were handed to Technosports, replaced the body panels, installed larger cooling ducts, bolted on bigger spoilers, added dual hood scoops, put in new custom side vents to replace the rear quarter windows, and then repainted all the cars silver with dual Kona blue stripes.
The director distributed the roles, he gave most of the heavy work, speed runs and stunts to the 2014 GT models, while keeping the real Shelby GT500 for most of the close-up shots.
Most of the filming was done in a traditional fashion, with cameras attached to the mustangs and held on filming cars. It was an expensive and time-consuming process, but the movie director insisted on it. “Doing practical stunts with cars takes more up-front preparation to set up the shots and ensure safety, but the end result is worth it." Said Waugh
The mustang wasn’t alone on this movie, it was accompanied by replicas of a bunch of cool super cars, like the Koenigsegg Regera, a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento, a Saleen S7, a McLaren E1, and a Bugatti Veyron
As you would expect, most cars were destroyed during production, only three survived, the two promo cars and the 2015 prototype which went straight back to Ford’s garage, while the other 2014 were understandably auctioned. But it was all worth it, the movie made $203.3 million at the box office. According to critics Need for speed wasn’t the greatest car movie, but it was certainly an awesome tribute to Carroll Shelby and the legendary mustang.
