Often mistakenly called smocking, shirring is a technique that creates stretchy fabric out of non-stretch fabric, by sewing rows of straight-stitches onto fabric using elastic thread in the bobbin! It's a really popular technique in fashion right now, and if you're anything like me, once you start shirring you'll become just as obsessed with it as I am and want to SHIRR EVERYTHING.
