Hey guys! I have a fun pattern for you today that combines two designs (diamonds and leaves) to create a really neat looking pattern. While I was playing around with this pattern I also created a variation on this design that creates a fun geometric shape in between the diamonds. I’ll show you how to create this variation at the end of the tutorial. Cut 4 pieces of 4mm terracotta rope, each piece is 2 meters long. Once finished there will be about 30cm or 1 ft of rope left hanging underneath the design. Fold each piece in half and attach to your dowel using Lark’s Head knots. Use the inside left cord as your filler cord and tie 4 double half hitch knots (dhhks) working down and to the right. Use the current inside left cord as your filler cord and tie 3 dhhks working down and to the left.

Use the same filler cord and tie 3 more dhhks working down and to the right. Use the inside left cord as your working cord to tie the first dhhk, the cord to the left of that to tie the second ddhk, and the cord to the left of that again to tie the last dhhk. Repeat on the right side of your work. Tie one more dhhk with the two middle cords to connect the two sides.

Use the third cord from the right as your filler cord and tie 2 dhhks working to the right. Repeat that process. Using the same filler cord tie 2 dhhks working to the right. Use the cord on the left as your filler cord and tie 2 more dhhks working to the right.

Repeat that process on the left side of your work.

Tie another diamond identical to the first to complete this design.

Now I’ll show you how to create the geometric shape in the middle of your work. Tie the first diamond using the same process as the first design.

Use the inside left cord as your filler cord and tie 3 dhhks working to the left. Repeat that process 2 more times. Using the same filler cord tie 3 dhhks working to the right. Use the cord on the left as your filler cord and tie 3 more dhhks working to the left. Repeat that process one more time. Repeat on the right side of your work.

Tie one more diamond using the same process as the first to complete the design.
