The City Centre Sustainable Housing Design competition in South Africa is a joint initiative of the CIB Working Commissions in Smart and Sustainable Built Environments (W116), and Construction in Developing Countries (W107).

The City Centre Sustainable Housing Design competition (CCSHDC) is for teams of undergraduate architectural students, and students in other disciplines at thirteen South African universities. It is sponsored by the National Home Builders Registration Council (NHBRC) in South Africa and Boogertman and Partners (B+P) and is being hosted by the Nelson Mandela University.

In order to support the competition, workshops will be held as a part of supporting and preparatory activities of CCSHDC. The workshops will cover a wide range of interesting topics in relation to architectural design and sustainability topics that respond to several UN Sustainable Development Goals. CIB members are invited to join the workshops and participate in aspects of the competition brief which may be of interest.
